'Westerland’ is a rose for the bold and daring gardener. It seems to demand attention with its very bright orange, semi-double, three inch flowers. It is best used as a pillar rose to ten feet or as a large specimen shrub of 5 feet by 7 feet. Qualities of disease resistance, cold hardiness and fragrance put this rose in a class of its own. This is another Kordes introduction.

We are asked for brightly colored roses all the time. Now we have one we can recommend. The semi-double blooms of 'South Africa'™ are a deep golden yellow, almost cantaloupe. The blooms open to reveal the stamens which are much the same color as the petals. Plant as a specimen or in combination with 'Plum Perfect'™ for a dramatic contrast. This is a great cut flower but it is thorny.

This is probably the best rose in the Veranda® series; at least the brightest, hence its name, 'Brilliant™ Veranda'®. The very full flowers are intensely showy like a coral beacon. Plants are sturdy to three feet making this rose a perfect container plant or useful in a mixed planting.

A recent Hybrid Musk cultivar introduced by Kordes, 'Lavender Lassie' is not exactly purple but it does lean to the lilac side of pink. The flowers, produced in large trusses, are showy, semi-double, and very fragrant. This vigorous rose could be clipped into an informal bush or hedge, but we like it best as a thickly-foliaged climber. If grown as a climber, this rose will reach 10 to 12 feet.
